Chapter 348 Odin Dies!
Chapter 348 Odin Dies!
Su Fan stood on the city wall, staring at the sky that was so blue it looked unreal.
The flesh on my right hand hasn't fully grown in yet, and you can see the blood vessels between the bones.
He put his hand in his pocket, touched the disc, and his fingertips trembled from the heat, so he pulled it out.
Yuanshi Tianzun stood beside him, his eyes fixed on the silver dot of light that had just disappeared on the horizon.
"Zeus is dead. But Odin is not. Izanami is not quite dead. The ones you killed were the ones at the very front. The ones hiding behind haven't moved yet."
Su Fan asked, "Who's hiding?"
The Primordial Celestial said, "Odin. And the rest of Egypt. In the Land of Cherry Blossoms, there's Izanagi, the man of Izanami, who has never shown himself."
Sun Wukong squatted on the city wall, his golden cudgel resting on his knees, his hands on both ends of the cudgel.
He turned to look at Su Fan.
"Kid, your hands are all rotten, and you're still hitting me?"
Su Fan pulled his hand out of his pocket, splattering the blood on the ground.
"Fight. What else can we do but fight? Wait for them to come?"
Sun Wukong grinned.
"I, Old Sun, love what you said."
He jumped down from the stack and hoisted the golden cudgel onto his shoulder.
"Come on. I, Old Sun, will go with you."
Su Fan shook his head.
"You stay. The South Heavenly Gate needs someone to guard it."
Sun Wukong's facial hair stood on end.
"What are you guarding? If you go alone and die, no one will even collect your body."
Su Fan looked at him.
"Great Sage, now that you're gone, who will guard the Southern Heavenly Gate?"
Sun Wukong opened his mouth, but no words came out.
He turned to look at the people on the city wall.
Those with broken hands, broken legs, blind eyes, and deaf ears were all looking at him.
Qingfeng stuck the broken sword into the ground and stood up, using the sword as a support.
"Great Sage, you go. We'll guard the South Heavenly Gate."
Sun Wukong glared at him.
"You'll defend it? What will you use to defend it?"
Qingfeng raised his right hand, the tip of the broken sword in his hand pointing towards the sky.
"I'll risk my life to protect it."
Sun Wukong remained silent.
He looked at Qingfeng, at the human warrior, and at the wolf demon.
Standing, sitting, lying down—everyone's eyes were on him.
He slammed his golden cudgel into the ground, and the ground shook.
"Alright. You guys guard the area. I, Old Sun, will go."
Su Fan took out the interdimensional teleportation talisman from his pocket and looked at it.
The runes drawn on the talisman have dimmed; they haven't lit up since the last time it was used.
He stuffed the talisman back into his pocket.
"This one's ruined. We need to get a new one."
The Primordial Celestial Venerable took out a new talisman from his sleeve and handed it to him.
The talisman was purple and had a pattern drawn on it: an eye with a lightning bolt inside.
"This is Zeus's teleportation talisman. I obtained it from him. It can take you to Olympus."
Su Fan took the talisman and turned it over to look at it.
The purple talisman had an eye on it that seemed to be alive, staring at him.
He held the talisman in his hand, but didn't crush it.
"I'm not going to Olympus."
The Primordial Celestial Venerable asked, "Where to?"
Su Fan said, "Asgard. Odin is still here. I'll kill him first."
Sun Wukong walked over carrying his golden cudgel.
"I'll go with you. You won't get rid of me this time."
Su Fan looked at him.
"Go now, and follow my instructions."
Sun Wukong grinned.
"Fine. You tell me where to hit, and I'll hit there."
Su Fan stuffed the purple talisman back into his pocket and then pulled another one out of Yuanshi Tianzun's sleeve.
That one is cyan, and it has a tree drawn on it.
World Tree.
Asgard teleportation scroll.
He crushed the blue talisman.
A blue light enveloped him and Sun Wukong, and in a flash, the two disappeared from the spot.
When he reappeared, Su Fan was standing on a bridge.
The bridge is golden, with railings on both sides, and patterns carved on the railings depicting people fighting.
The bridge is very long and you can't see the end of it.
There was nothing under the bridge; it was empty, dark, and you couldn't see the bottom.
Sun Wukong stood beside him, his golden cudgel slung over his shoulder, and looked down at the bridge below.
"What's down there?"
Su Fan said, "I don't know."
Sun Wukong poked downwards with his golden cudgel, but didn't reach anything.
He took back the golden cudgel.
"Let's go."
The two walked forward along the bridge.
After walking for about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, a gate appeared at the bridgehead.
The gate was golden and very tall, even taller than the city wall of Nantianmen.
There is a picture of a person riding a horse with eight legs carved on the door.
Odin.
The door was closed.
Su Fan walked to the door and reached out to push it open.
The door remained completely still.
He kicked the door, but it didn't budge.
Sun Wukong walked up and slammed his golden cudgel against the door with a loud bang, leaving a dent in the door.
But the door didn't open.
A voice came from inside the door.
"The Envoy of the Gods. You've finally arrived."
Su Fan recognized the voice; it was Odin.
His voice was hoarser than when I last heard it in Asgard, as if there was sand stuck in his throat.
Su Fan said, "Open the door."
Odin said, "No. If you come in, I will die. I do not want to die."
Su Fan said, "You have to die whether you want to or not."
Odin smiled.
The laughter was awful, like a leaky bellows.
"You can't get in. This door is made from the roots of the World Tree; even Pangu couldn't break it open."
Sun Wukong struck the door again with his staff, deepening the hole by another foot, but it still wouldn't open.
He turned to look at Su Fan.
"Kid, this door is impossible to break down."
Su Fan didn't speak.
He reached into his robes and pulled out Pangu's heart.
The blue stones gleamed, and the light shone on the door.
The patterns on the door began to move, and a person riding an eight-legged horse stepped down from the door and stood in front of Su Fan.
The person was golden, translucent, and had no face.
Su Fan looked at that person.
"Are you Odin?"
The person didn't say anything.
He reached out, grabbed the edge of the door, and pulled hard.
The door opened.
Su Fan walked through the door.
Behind the door was a grand hall.
The hall is very large, even larger than the South Heavenly Gate.
In the center of the hall was a golden chair, and a person was sitting on it.
Odin.
He was much thinner than the last time I saw him; his face was all skin and bones, one eye was closed, and the other eye was half-open.
The Spear of Eternity lay across his knees, the runes on it mostly darkened.
Odin looked at Su Fan, but there was no light in his single eye.
"You've arrived."
Su Fan said, "They're here."
Odin said, "I have been waiting for you for a long time. I have been waiting since you killed Typhon. I knew you would come."
Su Fan asked, "Are you ready?"
Odin took the Spear of Eternity off his knees; the runes on the spear flashed briefly before going dark again.
He looked at the gun and sighed.
"The gun is old. I am old too."
He put the gun on the ground and stood up from the chair.
My legs were shaking, and I couldn't stand steadily. I had to hold onto the chair armrest to stay upright.
He looked at Su Fan, and a light suddenly appeared in his one eye.
"I will not fight you."
Su Fan asked, "Why?"
Odin said, "I can't win. Pangu is behind you. Primordial Lord is behind you. Those ten thousand and fifty people are behind you. I alone cannot defeat them."
Su Fan didn't speak.
He walked up to Odin and looked down at him.
Odin was half a head shorter than him and as thin as a withered twig.
Odin said, "I concede. Asgard is yours. The World Tree is yours. The Nine Realms are yours. I want nothing."
Su Fan said, "I don't want your Asgard. I don't want your World Tree. I don't want your Nine Realms. I want your life."
Odin's one eye closed.
He remained silent for a long time before opening his eyes.
"Fine. I'll give you my life. But you have to promise me one thing."
Su Fan asked, "What is it?"
Odin said, "Spare my people. Thor, Tyr, Frigg, and the lesser gods. They didn't fight you, nor did they intend to. They just wanted to live."
Su Fan paused for a moment.
"OK."
Odin smiled.
His smile was awful, his mouth stretched to his ears, revealing his bare gums.
He picked up the Spear of Eternity from the ground and pointed the tip at his chest.
"I'll do it myself. You don't need to lift a finger."
He stabbed himself in the chest.
The spear tip pierced through his back, and golden blood gushed from the wound, spraying onto the ground and staining the stone slabs gold.
His body began to shatter, starting from his feet, turning into golden specks of light bit by bit.
Su Fan watched Odin's body dissipate without saying a word.
Sun Wukong stood beside him, his golden cudgel planted on the ground, without saying a word.
Odin's head was the last to dissipate.
His one eye was still open, staring at Su Fan.
"Don't forget what you promised me."
Su Fan said, "I won't forget."
Odin's head was shattered.
The golden light dissipated, leaving nothing behind in the hall.
The Spear of Eternity fell to the ground, and all the runes on it were destroyed.
Su Fan bent down and picked up the Eternal Spear.
The gun was very light, like a twig.
He slung the gun over his shoulder and turned to look at Sun Wukong.
"Walk."
Sun Wukong asked, "Where to?"
Su Fan said, "Let's go home."
The two walked out of the main hall, crossed the bridge, crushed the teleportation talisman, and with a flash of blue light, returned to the South Heavenly Gate.
Yuanshi Tianzun stood on the city wall, looking at the Eternal Spear in Su Fan's hand.
"Odin is dead?"
Su Fan threw the gun on the ground.
"He's dead."
The Primordial Lord of Heaven asked, "Where is Asgard?"
Su Fan said, "He didn't move. He admitted defeat; he stabbed himself."
Yuanshi Tianzun remained silent for a moment.
"Odin concedes defeat, Asgard is yours."
Su Fan shook his head.
"I don't want to. Let Thor handle it. Odin said before he died, spare his people."
Yuanshi Tianzun nodded.
"OK."
Su Fan walked to the city wall, sat down, and raised his right hand.
The light from the disc shone on my hand; the granulation tissue was still growing, and the bone was still healing.
Sun Wukong squatted down next to him, his golden cudgel resting on his knees.
"Kid, who's next?"
Su Fan looked at the sky.
The sky was blue, a very clean blue.
In the deepest part of the blue, there is nothing left.
Odin died, Zeus died, Ra died, Shiva died, Izanami died.
But Su Fan knew that this wasn't over yet.
"There's one more person."
Su Fan said.
Sun Wukong asked, "Who?"
Su Fan said, "Izanagi. The man of Izanami. He has never shown himself. He is waiting."
Sun Wukong slammed his golden cudgel into the ground.
"What are you waiting for?"
Su Fan said, "Wait until I'm tired, then finish me off with one fatal blow!"
