Chapter 132 A Return of the Favor
At roughly the same time, there was a knock on the door of Belvina's lounge, and Felix rushed in in a panic.
Seeing Felix suddenly run over, Belvina's first thought was that Lockhart had run away, but then she realized that Lockhart had no ability to escape.
"What's wrong?" Belvina asked calmly. "Take your time, there's no rush."
As she spoke, Belvina poured Felix a cup of tea and personally handed it to the new captain of the law enforcement team.
"Thank you," Felix said first, then explained why he had come. "The men downstairs saw Lucius Malfoy and heard him say he was here to get rid of Dumbledore. He's on his way to the Headmaster's office right now!"
Felix finished speaking in one breath, picked up his teacup, and drank it all in one gulp, almost like a cow drinking, completely wasting Belvina's good tea.
Upon hearing the bad news, Belvina did not panic, after all, she had long expected this to happen, but she did not expect it to come so soon.
In contrast to Belvina's composure, Felix was in a panic. His thoughts were similar to those of the students: if Dumbledore left the school, who would guarantee everyone's safety?
"Miss Black, will Dumbledore be expelled?" Felix asked. "If he is expelled, what will happen to the school, what will happen to the Chamber of Secrets?"
"The Board of Trustees has the power to appoint and dismiss the headmaster, and they can get rid of Dumbledore," Belvina said in a calm tone. "Don't panic, panicking won't solve anything. Life will go on even without Dumbledore."
The Hogwarts Board of Governors consists of twelve members, all of whom are wizards with a certain social standing and are not usually current employees of the school.
The primary responsibility of the school board is to manage and oversee the school, including the appointment and removal of the principal. The board is also responsible for handling protests and complaints from students' parents.
Now that Hogwarts has suffered two attacks and the students have collectively petitioned, the Board of Governors will inevitably take action, especially since Lucius Malfoy is one of the twelve members.
Belvina was surprised that those bastards on the board of directors acted so quickly this time; only a day had passed.
My cheap brother-in-law came strutting around like a peacock.
"So what do we do now?" Felix asked. "What do you need me to do?"
Belvina thought for a moment and said, "Okay, I need to go to the principal's office now. You stay here and write a letter to the minister in my name, informing him of the emergency at the school."
After saying that, Belvina picked up the trench coat hanging on the hanger, put it on, and immediately left the lounge.
Along the way, Belvina encountered several groups of students; some were chasing and jumping in the corridors, while others were talking and laughing loudly.
Others huddle in inconspicuous corners, being all lovey-dovey.
The students were doing different things, but they were all relaxed. They were unaware that Dumbledore was about to leave. A few minutes later, Belvina arrived at the oak door of the headmaster's office. Even through the door, she could hear Hagrid's gruff voice and the anger of the gamekeeper.
"What are you doing here!" Hagrid's voice came through the wooden door. "You're not welcome here, get out!"
"My dear friend, what I do at school is none of your business, so please keep your mouth shut," Malfoy said lazily. "I have important business to discuss with you, Dumbledore."
Belvina didn't knock; she simply pushed the door open and went inside.
The headmaster's office was bustling with activity tonight, with Dumbledore, Hagrid, and Snape all there, as well as Lucius Malfoy, the star of the night.
"Look, another familiar face has arrived." Lucius Malfoy sneered. "Hogwarts is truly awful, isn't it, Belvina?"
“Yes, it’s terrible. There are always people who can’t stand the peace and quiet at Hogwarts; they can always find something to cause trouble,” Belvina said. “Right, Lucius?”
With a single sentence, he named three people present: Malfoy, who was carrying a suspension order; Hagrid, who was raising giant spiders in the Forbidden Forest; and Dumbledore, who had brought back a conman. Only Snape escaped unscathed.
Belvina casually found an empty armchair and sat down, crossing her arms and resting her chin on them, without exchanging glances with anyone.
"What brings you here, Lucius?" Dumbledore asked politely, but his blue eyes were filled with raging anger, a rare occurrence for Dumbledore.
Lucius ignored Belvina's poisoned words and turned to Dumbledore, his coldness replaced by smugness.
"I told you, things are terrible, Dumbledore," Lucius said smugly, pulling out a long roll of parchment. "The board thinks you should be gone. This is a temporary suspension order, signed by all twelve directors."
At this point, Lucius paused deliberately. He wanted to see Dumbledore looking helpless and bewildered, and he also wanted to see Belvina looking distraught.
But Lucius Malfoy was destined to be disappointed. Belvina didn't even bother to lift her eyelids; she had long expected this to happen and had made preparations well in advance.
Dumbledore had, of course, already thought of it; if Belvina could think of it, there was no reason he wouldn't. Dumbledore was furious, but he wouldn't lose his composure, much less panic.
Seeing this, Lucius continued, "Dumbledore, with these two attacks and the students' collective protest, you are not capable enough to manage this school. You are disgracing Hogwarts, Dumbledore."
"Shut up!" Hagrid roared, his fists clenched. "Hogwarts can't be without Professor Dumbledore!"
Hagrid's bushy, dark hair made him look even taller, and his angry shouts were like thunderclaps. His fists, as big as casserole dishes, seemed ready to land on Lucius Malfoy's face at any moment.
The other three in the headmaster's office were surprisingly quiet. Snape stood there like a statue, not uttering a word. Belvina's gaze was fixed on the gilded perch behind the door, and Dumbledore stared at the signature on the parchment in the distance.
"My dear friend, I advise you to rein in your terrible temper; it will cost you," Malfoy said coldly. "This is my advice to you, Hagrid."
An enraged Hagrid lunged forward, looking down at Malfoy. "How many of them did you threaten to get this signature? Malfoy," he said, "I know what you're thinking. You want to see—"
"Calm down, Hagrid," Dumbledore said sternly, interrupting Hagrid before he could finish speaking. Some things are better left unsaid; they are better left unsaid.
Lucius Malfoy walked past Hagrid, dusting off his travel cloak as he went, making no attempt to hide his loathing for Hagrid.
"The signatures of all twelve are here, Dumbledore," Malfoy said dismissively. "So, step down from your position as headmaster and leave Hogwarts as soon as possible."
As he spoke, Lucius Malfoy showed the parchment in his hand to the other three men, excluding Hagrid.
"Get away from me," Belvina said with disgust. "Stay away from me, Lucius. You smell like a stinking Muggle."
As soon as the words were spoken, the principal's office exploded like a grenade.
Snape looked over from a distance, surprised that Belvina, who had always been pro-Muggle, would say such a thing.
Hagrid turned around abruptly, his eyes filled with disappointment as he looked at Belvina. Hagrid had thought she was a rare good person among the purebloods, but he never expected her to be just like her brother!
Enraged, Lucius Malfoy gripped his snake-headed cane tightly. He had almost pulled the wand out of his hand just now. How dare that damned Belvina Black humiliate him like that!
"Some people always deny the fact that the blood flowing in their veins is not pure by denying and lying," Belvina said calmly, her eyes lowered as she carefully examined her fingernails.
If it doesn't make a sound, it's a blockbuster.
Belvina's unintentional, sweeping statement affected everyone present.
Hagrid's father was a wizard, and his mother was the giantess Friedwarf; Snape's mother was a witch, and his father was a Muggle; Dumbledore's parents were both wizards, but his mother was Muggle-born.
As for Lucius Malfoy, the Malfoy family's so-called pure bloodline is a mess that cannot withstand any scrutiny.
Before the Secrets Act was enacted, the Malfoy family had already integrated into the upper echelons of Muggle society; who knows if they had actually mixed in Muggle blood.
After the enactment of the Secrets Act, the Malfoy family was not as extreme as the Black, Gaunt, and Lestrange families; their family tree included half-blood wizards.
Although the Malfoy family is listed among the Twenty-Eight Pure-Blood Wizarding Families, they have not lost the respect due to pure-blood wizarding families. However, there is nothing wrong with Belvina bringing up the Malfoy family's messy history.
After all, the Black family's insistence on pure blood is quite extreme, and there are few pure-blooded individuals in the entire wizarding society who are purer than Belvina.
It is precisely because of this extreme insistence on pure bloodlines that families like the Black and Gaunt have found it difficult to survive.
Belvina continued unhurriedly, "Of course, I wasn't talking about you, Lucius, please don't take it to heart."
You are one of the twenty-eight pureblood families.
"Toujourspur." Belvina added, which translates to: forever pure.
Then, Belvina slightly raised her eyelids and looked contemptuously at Lucius Malfoy, whose face was flushed red.
His dark, round eyes seemed to speak volumes, silently saying: You discriminate against Hagrid, you discriminate against Muggle-borns, so I'll discriminate against you. Nobody will get away with this.
