Chapter 247 Not Everyone in the Ministry of Magic is a Good-for-Nothing
After exchanging working opinions thoroughly with Barty Crouch, Belvina led her team away from the World Cup campsite.
She wasn't a fan of Quidditch, a sport enjoyed by many, so she naturally had no intention of staying to watch the semi-finals.
Upon returning to the Ministry of Magic, Belvina went straight to the Minister's office on the first floor to discuss the Triwizard Tournament with Cornelius Fudge.
Representatives from Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang have all signed, making the Triwizard Tournament inevitable, but the Ministry of Magic's preparations have been proceeding in secret.
The Triwizard Tournament, held again after a two-hundred-year hiatus, is of great importance, forcing the Ministry of Magic to exercise even greater caution.
The Ministry of Magic will not release any details about the Triwizard Tournament until all the tournament details are finalized.
That's why Belvina didn't notify the Muggle authorities; she wanted to wait until the dragon was officially imported before reporting it to them.
Since Barty Crouch brought up the matter of the dragon, Belvina felt there was no need to delay any longer.
In the minister's office, Connelly Fudge was in high spirits, radiating joy from head to toe.
The successful hosting of the Quidditch World Cup has boosted the Minister's popularity, and the upcoming Triwizard Tournament will also leave a significant mark on his political career.
With these two things on his mind, how could Cornelius Fudge not be happy?
"Fire dragons?" Cornelius Fudge said. "Dangerous and fascinating creatures. Shall we import a few?"
"Four fire dragons," Belvina replied. "Three fire dragons are for official matches, and one is a substitute, just in case."
"No problem. Is there anything else I need to inform the Muggle Prime Minister?" Cornelius Fudge asked again. "To be honest, I don't really like dealing with the Muggle Prime Minister; he's always so easily startled."
Over the past year, Connelly Fudge has had quite a bit of dealing with that Muggle prime minister.
First, there was Sirius Black's prison break last year, forcing Fudge to inform the Muggle Prime Minister just how dangerous Sirius was.
This year, with the Quidditch World Cup being held in the UK, Fudge had to reappear at 10 Downing Street to tell them that a large number of wizards would be coming to the UK.
Now, Connelly Fudge has to meet with the Muggle Prime Minister again regarding the Triwizard Tournament.
It doesn't matter what the Minister of Magic thinks, but the Muggle Prime Minister will definitely think that the world has gone mad and is completely beyond saving.
"We also need to import a Sphinx from Egypt," Belvina thought for a moment. "But that's part of the third event, and the Sphinx should be imported around May next year."
"Alright, I got it," Fudge said. "I'll apply to meet with the Muggle Prime Minister as soon as possible, and hopefully he can handle the news about the imported dragons."
As Fudge spoke, he walked toward the liquor cabinet in the office and said, "Want a drink?"
"No, I have to go to the Department of Justice," Belvina said. "A flying carpet can't replace a flying broomstick in Britain."
Belvina didn't linger. After finishing her business, she took her leave. Her decisiveness surprised Cornelius Fudge, who was unsure whether to be happy or worried.
After leaving the minister's office, Belvina took the elevator to the Department of Legal Enforcement on the second floor.
The corridor of the Legal Enforcement Division is no different from that of other floors, with doors on both sides.
Belvina walked down the corridor, turned the corner, and passed through two unusually heavy oak doors into the messy and noisy Auror office.
As the elite of the Ministry of Magic, the Aurors' working environment was far from ideal. Their originally spacious offices were divided into individual cubicles, making them resemble working animals in a company.
As Belvina walked past the Auror's office, she chatted briefly with some people she knew.
People like John Dexter and Kingsley Shackler all had personal relationships with Belvina.
After passing through another heavy oak door, Belvina turned into another corridor, then turned left again, and after several twists and turns, finally arrived at the office prohibiting the misuse of Muggle items.
Belvina knocked on the door and only went in after receiving permission.
It must be said that the office prohibiting the misuse of Muggle items is probably one of the most shabby offices in the Ministry of Magic.
The office didn't even have a magic window; it was dimly lit, cramped, and smaller than the broom shed in the hallway outside.
Two desks were squeezed into the innermost part of the room, surrounded by a row of overflowing filing cabinets along the wall. The rickety files took up almost all the space, leaving no room to even step in the office.
"Belvina, what brings you here today?" Arthur Weasley stood up and greeted her.
With Mr. Weasley's movements, the already cramped office became even more crowded. Thankfully, Perkins wasn't there, otherwise there really wouldn't have been room to stand.
"My place is indeed a bit small, there isn't even a window," Mr. Weasley said apologetically. "Please have a seat, and would you like something to drink?"
How's the tea?
As Mr. Weasley spoke, he busied himself in the cramped office.
Before long, Mr. Weasley brought a pot of steaming hot black tea to Belvina, along with some pastries.
"Try it and see if Molly's cooking suits your taste," Mr. Weasley said enthusiastically. "I was able to get tickets to the World Cup finals thanks to you and Sirius."
The Weasleys are all Quidditch fans, and they certainly wouldn't want to miss the Quidditch World Cup being held on home soil.
However, the Weasleys were not wealthy and could not afford to attend every game. They could only focus all their attention on the final. But tickets for the World Cup final were extremely difficult to obtain. Mr. Weasley originally planned to ask Ludo Bagman for help, but Sirius Black found out about it and, with a wave of his hand, bought tickets for the Weasleys as well.
Of course, Mr. Weasley didn't take advantage of Sirius; he paid for his ticket.
"You're welcome, Arthur. Friends are meant to help each other out," Belvina said. "Mmm, it tastes very good. I like it very much." She picked up the pastry and took a bite.
Mr. Weasley rubbed his hands together and said, "You've come to my office, surely on official business?"
Belvina nodded, swallowed the pastry in her mouth, and said, "Yes, Ali Bashir, does that name ring a bell?"
"Is it that guy who sells flying carpets?" Mr. Weasley's tone was questioning, but his eyes were quite certain.
If Belvina were to rank the overall abilities of Ministry of Magic officials, Arthur Weasley's name would certainly be near the top of the list.
Mr. Weasley is not only exceptionally capable at work, but also extremely conscientious and responsible. It is truly a waste of his talents to be assigned to the Office that prohibits the misuse of Muggle items.
“Yes, Mr. Crouch mentioned the flying carpet to me. Ali Bashir has been trying to get us to relax the rules about the flying carpet,” Belvina said, picking up another pastry.
"That Ali guy came to me too, I bet I wrote him at least a hundred letters," Mr. Weasley said. "Every single one of them was telling him that the carpet was defined as a Muggle artifact and that the flying carpet was an abuse of magic on Muggle objects."
Belvina thought for a moment and said, "That money-grubber Bashir won't listen to any of that. He just wants to export flying carpets to Britain and take over this blank market of ours."
After finishing the snacks on the tray and wiping them clean, Belvina continued, "We must come up with a way to completely dissuade Ali Bashir from selling flying carpets. If necessary, confiscate all the flying carpets he has."
"I'll talk to Ali again. Hopefully, he'll listen to my advice this time, otherwise we'll have to take forceful measures," Mr. Weasley said, still wanting to give Ali Bashir another chance.
Arthur Weasley was just too kind and easy to talk to, which is why the guys in the logistics department dared to treat him differently and refused to install windows in the office where the misuse of Muggle items was prohibited.
After a brief chat about work, Belvina and Mr. Weasley talked for a few more minutes about Percy.
Percy Weasley, who graduated from Hogwarts this year, has successfully joined the Ministry of Magic and entered the Department of International Magical Cooperation.
Out of respect for Mr. Weasley, Belvina took Percy under her wing and promoted him to the position of temporary assistant, essentially making him Belvina's secretary.
Overall, Percy's work ability and attitude are inherited from his father, but Percy's ideas are immature and still carry the naiveté he had when he was president of the boys' council.
The only thing Belvina didn't quite like was that Percy Weasley was just too eager to improve.
