Chapter 145 Inspection of Hanhe New City
Chapter 145 Inspection of Hanhe New City
As dawn broke, Lynn led Vera and Lydia away from Silver Dew Village.
The three people were carried on the broad back of the flying dragon, which flew steadily over the gradually awakening forests and fields below, heading towards the new city of Hanhe.
Vera sat behind Lynn, her arms gently wrapped around his waist, a hint of joy on her face.
Leah sat further back, looking around happily.
"Lynn, we've reached Hanhe New City! It's already quite a large-scale development." Vera pointed into the distance.
On the horizon, a sizable complex of buildings is beginning to take shape.
The new city is well-planned.
The main road is wide and straight, roughly dividing the area into residential areas, commercial areas, workshop areas, warehouse areas, port areas, and a centrally reserved public square and college area.
The buildings are arranged in neat rows, many of the roofs have been installed, and wisps of smoke are beginning to rise from the chimneys.
Near the Han River, a dock has been set up, and many ships are loading and unloading cargo.
Further away, the newly reclaimed fields stretch into the distance like a green checkerboard.
"Yes, the first phase of the project is basically complete." Lynn nodded, a hint of satisfaction in his eyes.
"Let's go down and take a look."
They landed on a reserved vacant lot on the edge of the new town.
The gray mountain tribe kobolds who were already on guard went to report the news, and soon Priest Dogg came running over with his short legs and high spirits.
"Prophet! Lady Leah! Miss Vera! Welcome!" Dog bowed respectfully, his small eyes full of enthusiasm.
"Good job, Dog. The progress is faster than I expected." Lynn patted him on the shoulder.
"It's all done according to the blueprints and plans you gave us!" Dogg rubbed his hands excitedly.
"The residential area is 70% complete, and the first families to apply, like Mel and Annie, moved in a few days ago!"
"The foundations for the workshop area have been laid, and the blacksmith shops, carpentry workshops, glass factories, paper mills, steel mills, and pottery kilns are already operational!"
"Public granaries and supply distribution centers have also been built!"
As he led Lynn and the other two into the city, he reported back on their experiences as if they were his own treasures.
The streets were indeed clean and tidy. Although they were still somewhat empty, some residents were tending to their yards in front of their homes, and children were playing in the open spaces. When they saw Lynn and his party, they all stopped what they were doing and greeted them respectfully and warmly, their faces beaming with anticipation for their new life.
"The order was maintained well," Lynn praised.
"Mel is now in charge of maintaining order! It's all thanks to him!"
"Moreover, the guards take turns patrolling, explaining the doctrines and new district rules, and everyone is quite law-abiding."
Dogg explained.
Lynn nodded slightly and asked about another matter he was concerned about: "How's the situation at the farm?"
Mentioning this, Dogg became even more animated: "I was just about to report to you, Prophet! That method of 'centralized breeding' you mentioned is truly amazing!"
They arrived at an area enclosed by a wooden fence in the southeast corner of the new town.
The area was divided into several sheds, and the air was filled with the smell of hay, fodder, and...some kind of livestock.
"As you instructed, we recruited experienced people from the refugees and the original farmers to manage them centrally," Dogg said, pointing to a large shed.
"These are long-haired snow sheep, which are cold-resistant, have good wool, and the meat is also quite good."
"Next to us are Albas cows that produce milk; they have high yields and are very nutritious."
He then pointed to another fenced-off open area containing some birds that looked somewhat like large chocobos, but with darker plumage. "These are down-feathered chickens that we traded with caravans from the south. They grow quickly, lay many eggs, and their feathers can be used for stuffing."
"What about the epidemic prevention measures?" Lynn was more concerned about this.
The biggest risk in centralized farming is disease.
"I did everything according to the booklet you gave me!" Dogg pulled out a crumpled notebook.
"Regularly clean the sheds, disinfect with lime water, isolate sick animals, and observe newly arrived livestock..."
"And about that vaccination you mentioned... we tried it on some recovered sick sheep, and it seems to really work!"
"At least the other sheep in the same pen haven't gotten sick again!"
Vera looked at the cattle and sheep with curiosity, then at Lynn, her eyes filled with admiration.
Although Lynn is a big bad guy, he actually knows a lot.
Leah, however, was more interested in the fluffy snow sheep, blinking her eyes as if she wanted to go up and touch them.
"Very good, keep it up."
"Aquaculture is the foundation for stabilizing the supply of meat, eggs, and dairy products, improving the physical health of our citizens, and is also one of the important sources of income in the future," Lynn advised.
"By the way, we also need to pay attention to recording all kinds of data and explore more efficient feeding methods."
"The source of feed needs to be guaranteed. This can be discussed with Ivital and Grom, and combined with the upcoming Druidic agriculture program."
"Understood! Prophet!" Dogg solemnly noted it down.
After leaving the breeding area, Lynn suggested that he wanted to see the progress of the college's construction.
The college is located in the planned central area, close to the future public square.
The main building is a multi-story building that occupies a large area. It has been topped out and workers are installing doors and windows.
A large open space has been reserved in front of the building, which will be used as a playground and experimental field in the future.
At this moment, a small group of people were gathered around the steps in front of the academy, seemingly engaged in some kind of argument.
A thin boy dressed in faded old clothes was bowing deeply to the two academy staff members in charge of registration and testing. His short, light blue hair was somewhat disheveled, and his voice was urgent and pleading.
"Please, please give me another chance! I...I really want to study! I want to become stronger! I can take any kind of test! Moving stones, running, memorizing...I can do it all!"
The two academy staff members, a man and a woman, appeared to have just been selected from the teaching or literate classes, and they looked troubled.
The woman said gently but helplessly, "Child, it's not that we don't want to give you a chance."
"Your magical perception test shows very low elemental affinity and weak mental foundation."
"The Qi Seed Test shows that the meridians are not very smooth, and the body's foundation is too weak..."
"According to the preliminary standards set by the Prophet, you are indeed not suitable to directly enter the combat profession or the mage class."
The male staff member added, "We can recommend you to be an apprentice in the workshop area to learn a trade, or to the agricultural team to learn modern farming methods. You can contribute to the new city in the same way, and your life will be secure."
"Look, your hands are very dexterous; you did quite well on the woodworking quiz just now..."
"But..." The boy raised his head, revealing a face that was pale due to malnutrition, but with extremely delicate and handsome features. His eyes were filled with resentment and stubbornness.
"My goal in becoming stronger isn't for a comfortable life..."
"I...I need power! I need the power to protect what's important, the power to change my destiny! Please..."
