Chapter 332 Hang Seng Index Breaks 10000 Points
Chapter 332 Hang Seng Index Breaks 10000 Points
Winter seems to have arrived suddenly in Jinan. It's only November 20th, and the temperature has already dropped to minus ten degrees Celsius.
Fine snowflakes drifted outside the window, pattering softly against the glass. Inside, the heating was on, making it warm and cozy, and a thin layer of condensation covered the glass.
Ling Yun sat on the sofa, holding a pregnancy guidebook. An Shiyu had bought the book for him, saying that fathers needed to learn from it. He turned to Chapter Three, "Pregnancy Nutrition and Diet," and was reading when his phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID: Li Ziyu.
The moment the call connected, an urgent voice came from the other end, "Ling Yun!" Li Ziyu's voice boomed from the receiver, slightly choked with excitement, "Guess how many points the Hang Seng Index futures are right now?"
Ling Yun moved her phone a little further away. "What time is it? I haven't been checking the market much lately."
"10523!" Li Ziyu shouted, "Today's closing point is 10523!"
Ling Yun was speechless. Did they really need to shout so loudly? He wasn't deaf or hard of hearing.
「从6666到现在,涨了快4000点了!」李子余继续喊着,「4000点啊!一个点50港币,一手就是20万!20万港币!」
"Okay, I understand."
"Huh?" Li Ziyu's voice was filled with disbelief. "You just...huh? It's almost eight times! Eight times! Can't you even show a little emotion?"
This book was first published on 2020s.com, providing you with a reading experience free of errors and disordered chapters.
Lingyun switched the phone to her other ear. "Are your positions still there?"
"Yes! The long positions haven't been moved yet! This is as you requested. I'll call you first when the index exceeds 10000," Li Ziyu said. "I checked before the market closed today. Our average holding cost was around 6800, and now it's 10523. You do the math, that's a lot of profit! Our fund has already completed its three-year target ahead of schedule."
Ling Yun roughly calculated that with over 3500 lots and a floating profit of 20 per lot, that's six or seven hundred million. The six billion exposure leveraged by Sophia's two billion US dollars, plus the purchase of heavyweight stocks, are currently impossible to calculate, and he can't estimate the total amount, nor is he bothered to do so.
"Ling Yun?" Li Ziyu called him from the other end of the line, "Are you listening?"
"I'm listening."
"So what's the next step?" Li Ziyu asked. "Should we keep holding onto it? Or split a portion?"
Ling Yun stood up and walked to the window.
The snow outside had fallen a bit heavier, and a layer of white snow had settled on the branches of the pomegranate tree in the yard. An Shiyu was busy cooking in the kitchen, and the sound of chopping vegetables could be heard.
"Ling Yun?" Li Ziyu called out again.
"Above 10000, the Hang Seng Index will fluctuate for a while, fluctuating around 10500 with a range of about 500 points up and down, and needs to digest the profit-taking," Ling Yun said.
Is the market about to enter a period of range-bound trading?
"Hmm. When the stock index reaches around 10900, close half of your position. Then buy it back in when it pulls back below 10000."
Li Ziyu was silent for a few seconds, processing the instruction, then asked, "And then?"
"Let's wait until the index can stabilize above 11000 before continuing to go long."
"Okay," Li Ziyu said. "I've got it." The sound of a pen nib scraping across paper came from the other end of the phone.
"Ling Yun," Li Ziyu said after finishing writing, his voice a little lower than before, "that Chen Zi'ang, do you still remember him?"
Ling Yun certainly remembered. That Harvard graduate trader almost quit his job in the conference room back then.
"What's wrong with him?"
"He..." Li Ziyu paused for a moment, "He wants me to thank you."
"These past few months, he's been completely obsessed with you," Li Ziyu continued. "He's been glued to the screen every day, doing calculations and analyses. When we first entered the market around 6666, he thought you were crazy. He thought the market had no support and would definitely fall below 5800, and that you going all in would likely result in a margin call. But after a brief dip below 6660, it rose all the way up, eventually reaching 7000, 8000, and 9000, and he didn't say a word. The day it reached 10000, he sat alone in the conference room for an entire afternoon."
"Then he came to me. He said, 'Mr. Li, I didn't believe him before, but I do now. Could you please tell him to thank me for me?'"
"And another thing," Li Ziyu's voice carried a hint of amusement, "those traders are truly convinced of your abilities now. They do whatever you say without questioning you anymore. If your instructions don't align with their predictions, they simply adjust their expectations to see where they went wrong. They practically treat your analysis as the standard answer."
"Lingyun," Li Ziyu said, "you are a true god, I admire you."
Ling Yun remained silent. He wasn't a true god; he merely possessed the cheat ability of time travel, knowing the answers in advance and finding reasons within those answers—how could he be wrong? What Ling Yun was telling them were all strategic things, all abstract concepts, yet all logically consistent.
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone.
"Shall we leave it at that for now?" Li Ziyu asked. "I'll go assign them tasks."
"Um."
Lingyun hung up the phone, walked back to the sofa, and picked up the pregnancy guidebook.
Turn back to the previous page, "Pregnancy Nutrition and Diet," and continue reading.
An Shiyu poked her head out from the kitchen, "Dinner's ready!"
Ling Yun put down the book and stood up.
Three dishes and a soup were laid out on the table: braised pork ribs, stir-fried broccoli, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and seaweed and egg drop soup. An Shiyu untied her apron and sat down opposite him.
"Try it." She pointed to the plate of pork ribs. "I learned how to make it today."
Lingyun picked up a piece and put it in her mouth. The ribs were stewed until very tender, but the flavor was a bit bland.
"How was it?" she asked him expectantly.
"tasty."
She smiled, picked up a piece for herself, and took a bite. She chewed it, then frowned.
"It's a bit bland, I didn't put in enough salt," she said.
"Not bland at all, just right. Low salt is good for your health."
"Don't try to fool me." She picked up another piece of broccoli with her chopsticks. "This is definitely bland too."
After dinner, Lingyun went to the kitchen to wash the dishes, while An Shiyu sat on the sofa watching TV, switching between different remote controls until she finally stopped on a variety show.
After washing the dishes and drying his hands, Lingyun came over and sat down next to her.
She leaned on his shoulder.
"Honey, what do you think we should name our baby?"
"I've thought of a few," she said, pulling a piece of paper from under the coffee table. It was covered with names written all over it. "Look, there are boys' names and girls' names."
Ling Yun took it and glanced at it.
Boys: Ling Zhifei, Ling Zhiyi, Ling Zhiyu, Ling Zhiming...
Girls: Ling Yuqing, Ling Yuxuan, Ling Yutong, Ling Yuxin...
"Do all the girls' names have 'rain' in them?" he asked.
"Mmm," she said, "I like rain, it sounds nice."
Lingyun nodded and handed the paper back to her.
Which one do you think is better?
"That's fine. My wife is a top student in literature, so naming our child is a piece of cake for her! If you ask me to name him, I'll call him Lingyi. It's easy to write. Every day is 01, and 01 is a binary number, which suits my background as a computer science graduate."
She glared at him. "Perfunctory."
