Chapter 43 Heading to the School of Social Sciences
Chapter 43 Heading to the School of Social Sciences
Lin Feng frowned: "It seems we belong to the School of Social Sciences."
"It's a little past 4 p.m. now, which is within counselor Su Wan's 'safe' working hours."
"There seems to be no problem with this set instruction at the moment."
"By the way," Park Bu-sung asked casually as he prepared to leave, "what exactly are we studying? The School of Social Sciences has a very broad scope."
Sato Ichiro suddenly raised his hand and pointed to several books scattered on the desk by the window.
As everyone looked over, they saw that the spine of the book was printed with the words "Introduction to Abnormal Psychology", "Group Behavior and Cognitive Bias", and "Dream Analysis and Symbol Interpretation".
"Psychology." Ichiro Sato's voice was still hoarse.
"My girlfriend... my ex-girlfriend, she studied this, and she has all these books."
The four of them composed themselves and pushed open the dormitory door.
Wasim's gaze lingered on the doorplate for a moment—404, exactly as the counselor had said.
The corridor was eerily quiet.
The light was dim, with only a few overhead lamps crackling overhead.
The dormitory doors on both sides were tightly closed, and not a sound could be heard. It was as if only the four of them remained on the entire floor.
"Strange, are we the only four on this floor? Where are the chosen ones from other countries?"
As Park Bu-sung spoke, he curiously walked towards the neighboring dormitory 403 and raised his hand to knock on the door.
"Don't move!" Lin Feng shouted, grabbing his wrist with such force that Park Bu-sung grimaced.
"This is a world of supernatural tales. Making any rash contact could trigger unknown taboos or 'hidden rules'."
Park Bu-cheng jolted, immediately withdrawing his hand and nodding with lingering fear, "Yes, yes, I'll listen to you, senior! I almost let my hand slip!"
The four walked along the quiet corridor toward the stairwell.
As we passed the third floor, at the corner of the stairs, a boy in a school uniform was walking up the stairs with his head down.
As he passed them, the boy seemed to glance up unintentionally.
A stiff, exaggerated smile was on his face.
His mouth stretched almost to his ears, but his eyes were empty and devoid of any smile, only a chilling sense of incongruity.
It was like... like someone had forcibly hooked up the corner of his mouth.
Lin Feng instantly recalled the warning from the phone call earlier—"Don't laugh! You'll be eaten!"
The four exchanged a glance and quickened their pace in unison.
In the silence, that eerie smile, like an ice spike, pierced deep into everyone's heart.
By the time they stepped out of the dormitory building, the bright sunshine had vanished, replaced by a thin, gray mist.
Visibility was less than fifty meters, and distant buildings were reduced to blurry outlines.
A sense of oppression and isolation, similar to that in the surface world of Silent Hill, washes over you.
"Let's go check out the school gate first," Vassim suggested. "Since the goal of advanced clearance is to escape, checking the condition of the school gate is the top priority."
No one objected.
Following the road signs, the four of them walked in what should have been the school gate.
The fog swallowed the sound of footsteps, and the surroundings were eerily silent.
Soon, they saw the cast iron gate and the blurry shadow of the guardhouse next to it.
The gate was wide open, but outside was still a thick, impenetrable wall of fog.
"Since we're already here, let's see if we can get out!" Park Bu-sung said, blowing a breath on his bangs before striding towards the door.
However, something strange happened.
No matter how fast he walked, or even started jogging, the school gate, which seemed so close, always remained about 3 meters away from him.
"That's enough." Lin Feng stopped the panting Park Bu-sung. "It seems that, just as we suspected, we can't leave normally without cracking the secrets here and fulfilling the prerequisites. Let's go to the School of Social Sciences."
They changed direction and followed the road signs to the School of Social Sciences.
Along the way, they passed a small garden known as the "Meditation Garden".
Inside stand dozens of life-sized, gray-white stone sculptures.
The sculptures' postures and faces are all unusually distorted—
Some held their heads in their hands, as if they were enduring great pain;
Some opened their mouths wide, as if shouting silently;
Some bodies are curled up at angles that violate ergonomics;
Some had blurred facial features, leaving only a few sunken holes...
They were scattered among the bare trees, appearing and disappearing in the thin mist, like a group of tormented souls instantly petrified.
"These sculptures... they're really unsettling," Vassim commented, frowning.
Sato Ichiro pushed up his glasses and said in his characteristic, slightly dejected tone:
"It reminds me of a horror movie where the wax figures were made by soaking living people in wax. Do you think... these might be...?"
"Hey! Don't talk nonsense!" Park Bu-sung immediately felt a chill and subconsciously moved a few steps away from the nearest sculpture.
Just then, he seemed to see the eyeball of a sculpture next to him move slightly, as if its gaze fell on him!
"Ahhh—! It moved! Its eyes moved!!" Park Bu-sung was so frightened that he screamed and scrambled out of the sculpture forest without looking back.
"Coward!" Vassim muttered under his breath, watching his retreating figure, but his hand unconsciously went to his side—
Although there were no guns on hand there, it was a habitual precaution.
Lin Feng and Sato Ichiro immediately scanned the surrounding sculptures warily. Without lingering any longer, they quickly left the unsettling area.

Dragon Kingdom Live Stream Room:
"Holy crap! This atmosphere is amazing! It's scarier than a horror movie!"
"Starting in Dormitory 404, dated April 4th, that's a full stack of buffs!"
"That laughing guy scared the crap out of me! Was what he said on the phone true?!"
"I can't get out of the school gate. Is it really a spatial distortion, or am I trapped in a maze?"
"Where are the chosen ones from other countries? I haven't seen a single one. Are they all entering parallel universes?"
"I'm about to meet my advisor, Su Wan. I'm both excited and scared. Is she a beauty or a slit-mouthed woman?"
........................
Ten minutes later, the four of them finally arrived at the School of Social Sciences.
Unlike other modern buildings along the way, the Academy of Social Sciences is a solitary old-fashioned Soviet-style building.
The location is remote, with no other buildings in sight.
The plane trees next to the building were now bare branches, with a few black crows perched on them, emitting harsh, hoarse cries.
Most alarmingly, on the patch of wasteland in front of the building, large swathes of eerie red flowers were blooming—
Its petals are slender and curled back, like blood or claws—it is none other than the legendary red spider lily.
"This place... just sitting here gives me goosebumps!" Park Bu-sung muttered to himself, subconsciously rubbing his arms.
