Chapter 136 The Found Entrance
"Sir! It's so good to see you're alright!" Belvina said sincerely.
"Of course, Professor, courage is my only faith!" Sir Nicholas said proudly. "There's only Myrtle in the restroom right now, but you won't believe what I'm seeing."
Nicholas, with his pearly white, translucent face, waved his hands excitedly and exclaimed, "I've never seen anything like this at Hogwarts! It's truly amazing!"
Before Sir Nicholas could recount the strange sight he had seen in the girls' restroom, Basilda and Paul Bernard, carrying a leather suitcase, approached.
"How are you? Are you alright?" Bassheda called from afar. "I was afraid you wouldn't be able to contain yourself and would just rush in!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Bassheda, who was some distance away, came up to her, took Belvina's hand and checked her over to make sure her friend hadn't acted impulsively.
"I'm fine, thanks to the brave Sir Nicholas," Belvina said. "The sir has already gone in to check on me."
Sir Nicholas held his head high with pride, every strand of his long hair seeming to await praise, filled with pride in his courage and nobility.
"Thank you, Sir!" Bassheda exclaimed sweetly, her voice at least four plus signs of sugariness.
The amiable Sir Nicholas nodded with satisfaction, then bowed politely, though he would place one hand on the top of his head to prevent it from falling off.
"It is my duty to protect the school and to help the professors," Sir Nicholas said. "It is my honor to be able to help two elegant and beautiful ladies."
Sir Nicholas was a true knight, and after reaching adulthood, he openly associated with Muggles and was a courtier of King Henry VII.
At that moment, Paul Bernard also arrived at the door of the girls' restroom, put the suitcase on the ground, and if it weren't for his very distinctive ethnic features, Belvina would have thought he was about to perform the Edo Tensei!
"For now, we only have four alchemical dolls available, all of which can use the Eye Disease Charm," Paul said. "That's a bit few; hopefully, it won't be a hindrance."
"Another doll, Professor Bernard, your behavior is too presumptuous." Sir Nicholas's vulnerable and sensitive side came out. Using alchemy to give the doll "life" made Sir Nicholas very uncomfortable.
Belvina quickly changed the subject, saying, "Jue Tu, you still haven't told me what you saw in the bathroom?"
"That scene was truly astonishing!" said Sir Nicholas. "As soon as I went in, I heard Myrtle wailing and crying."
Before I could even go over to comfort her, I noticed an extra water pipe in the bathroom. Just as I was about to go check it out, a blinding white light appeared, and then the pipe vanished.
Sir Nicholas said excitedly that this was the first time he had ever seen anything like it in a castle, and it was much more interesting than spiral staircases and secret passages.
Belvina and Bassheda exchanged a glance. They had thoroughly investigated the girls' restrooms, and Belvina concluded that to find any possible secret rooms, they would need to dismantle everything inside.
"What do we do now?" Bassheda asked. "Should we go in now, or stay at the door and wait for that person to come out?"
Standing guard at the bathroom door and swarming the person when they come out is a relatively safe method, and you might not even have to face the basilisk.
However, no one knows what's going on under the pipes, and no one can be sure whether the person who triggered Dumbledore's magical mechanism was a Slytherin heir or another "victim".
More importantly, the person who exposed Hagrid fifty years ago was Tom Riddle, a ruthless man who called himself "Voldemort" in his student days. Would he have nothing better to do than expose Hagrid of Gryffindor?
Belvina paced back and forth in front of the girls' restroom; the repetitive, mechanical movements helped her calm down and made it easier for her to think.
"I don't want to wait any longer; waiting will only make us more passive," Belvina said, having made up her mind.
"It's just a basilisk monster, we can't kill it!"
Although Bassheda had concerns, she did not oppose Belvina's decision.
Paul thought for a moment and said, "Before we take action, we need to inform Professor McGonagall and have her arrange for all students to return to their respective college lounges."
The Hogwarts professors seemed to be quite quick to speak; just as they mentioned Professor McGonagall, a Patronus in the form of a tabby cat suddenly appeared, its stripes around its eyes resembling a pair of glasses.
The tabby cat sat down in front of everyone and said in Professor McGonagall's voice, "I have ordered all professors to escort students back to the lounge immediately after class. The number of absentees is being counted and verified. Also, I have informed Hagrid."
"Please tell Professor McGonagall that we have found the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets and need Harry Potter's assistance," Belvina said.
The tabby cat took a deep look, then leaped into the air and disappeared.
In a way, Belvina and Professor McGonagall have many similarities. Both of them have cats as their Patronus, one a tabby and the other a calico cat; both served in the Ministry of Magic and both returned to Hogwarts to teach.
"Professor McGonagall's charm is so irresistible, it's hard not to fall in love with her," Bassheda exclaimed. "Her presence always brings a sense of security."
Belvina nodded, then stood in front of the bathroom door again, reached out and grasped the brass ball handle, the tip of her wand pressed against the lock cylinder.
"Watch out, Professor Black," Sir Nicholas warned hastily. "The washroom is full of dirty water, and Myrtle is throwing another tantrum."
Belvina chanted a spell in a low voice, the light flowing over the door of the chapel dissipated, the magic left by Dumbledore was temporarily dispelled, and sewage overflowed from the gaps at the bottom of the wooden door, accompanied by the loud and piercing cries of Moghan.
"Wait, let me do it." Paul said, untying the suitcase. A lifelike alchemical doll emerged from the suitcase and took Belvina's place.
"This is too presumptuous, far too presumptuous," Sir Nicholas muttered to himself.
Under Paul's control, the alchemical doll twisted the brass ball doorknob, and sewage gushed out continuously, instantly overflowing the doorway and seeping into the corridor.
The alchemical doll stepped through the sewage and took the lead, entering the girls' restroom first. Belvina and the others followed closely behind. Nicholas did not go through the door; he passed through the wall again and floated in mid-air in the restroom.
The weeping of the Queen Mother was even louder and more piercing than before. The bathroom was dimly lit because the gushing water had extinguished the candles and splashed water all over the walls and floor.
Belvina and Bassheda stepped forward, enduring Myrtle's deafening cries, and carefully turned off the tap.
Reduce the water usage in the bathrooms to avoid a scenario like Moaning Myrtle flooding Hogwarts.
"That's it!" Sir Nicholas pointed to the pool full of water. "The pipes and the white light are all over there."
It was an ordinary-looking pool with peeling tiles and a rough interior, but a small snake was engraved on the side of the brass faucet.
"Myrtle, can we talk for a bit?" Belvina said. She didn't speak Parsley, and even though she noticed the anomaly in the brass faucet, she couldn't make the secret room appear.
"Get out! All of you get out!" Mommy shouted, her voice trembling with tears. She seemed to be hiding in the last cubicle, her favorite place.
Belvina walked with her feet apart to the last cubicle, knocked politely on the door, and said, "Myrtle, I think we can talk."
"Nothing to talk about!" Myrtle suddenly kicked out, and an even larger gush of water gushed out, splashing onto the already soaked floor. "I know, you're here to smash me too, aren't you! Ten points for hitting Myrtle in the stomach! Fifty points for hitting Myrtle in the head!"
The mournful howls of the weeping Queen Mom echoed through the walls as she continued, "What a fun game! Haha!"
Let's go bully Myrtle, she's dead anyway!
Belvina calmly said, "Myrtle, can you tell me who you are? I am a professor at the school, and I can punish those who do wrong, especially students who like to bully others."
One monkey, one tethering method; the brave Sir Nicholas can provoke her, while the fragile, sensitive, and neurotic Myrtle needs to be soothed.
Moreover, one of the reasons for Myrtle's death was the bullying and humiliation she suffered at the hands of her classmates. Standing in her shoes and sticking to her side might help her calm down.
"I don't know who it was, I only saw her back," Myrtle said, her voice still sharp and shrill, but her mood had improved. "I was just sitting in the cubicle when suddenly a book was thrown at me—"
Myrtle started crying again, screaming, "Maybe she thinks throwing a book at me is a fun game! But I don't think so! I may be dead, but I still have feelings!"
Of course, Myrtle definitely had feelings.
After returning to Hogwarts as a ghost, Moaning Myrtle relentlessly pursued Oliver Humboldt, even disrupting his brother's wedding. If the Ministry of Magic hadn't intervened, Moaning Myrtle would have continued to pester Humboldt indefinitely.
"You said 'her,'" Belvina said. "Describe her, and I will find her and she will be punished as she deserves."
"I don't know, I only saw that she had red hair and was quite small," Myrtle said, chuckling. "She picked up that book, and oh yes, she seemed to be crying—I haven't even started crying yet! I'm the one crying, Myrtle!"
Belvina had to cover her ears to prevent her eardrums from being ruptured by Myrtle's roar.
"One last question, Myrtle," Belvina said, pointing to the faucet engraved with a small snake, "What did you see there on the last day of your life?"
Myrtle's entire demeanor changed instantly. She stopped crying and making a scene, and instead proudly puffed out her chest, as if it were a question that made her feel honored.
She said, "Oh, you know, Oliver Humbell called me a four-eyed dog—I was so sad that I ran to the bathroom to cry. Then I heard people come in, and their voices were so funny, one of them was clearly a boy!"
Myrtle suddenly floated in front of Paul Bernard and shouted, "What?! How come there's a boy in the girls' restroom?!"
In short, both Paul and Sir Nicholas averted their gazes, not daring to look at Mommy King, as if they were afraid that she would flood Hogwarts.
"I opened the door, intending to yell at the boy and tell him to get out, and then I died," Myrtle said softly. "Right here," she floated to the edge of the pool, "I saw a pair of terrifyingly large yellow eyes, and then—"
Then, Myrtle Warren became the Weeping Myrtle, a ghost haunting the girls' restroom.
