Chapter 163 Hamen's Melon-Making

The relaxed and pleasant summer vacation in Fertile Grounds was a unique experience that Harry had never had before.

Dobby the house-elf took meticulous care of Harry, so much so that he practically fed him his meals.

Aside from the overly enthusiastic house-elves who were a bit overwhelming, Harry completely integrated into life on Fertile Ground and enjoyed everything there.

During the day, Harry can wander around the nearby villages, where the houses are scattered in a picturesque way, or he can follow Marius to herd cattle and sheep and experience the idyllic life of the idyllic countryside.

Harry can also ride a flying broomstick over rolling farms and villages, and over babbling brooks in the morning light.

The blooming, romantic lavender fields and the solitary, towering watchtower captivated him, making him linger.

In the evening, Marius would light a campfire in the yard, and Harry could sit by the fire and listen to the old man tell stories of the past. The sheepdog would run around in the yard, sometimes chasing away goblins that seemed to have come to life like potatoes.

If Harry had to point out anything wrong with the farmhouse, the only thing he could think of was that it wasn't lively enough. His best friend Ron wasn't there, nor were his noisy twin brothers, nor his stern-faced Percy.

On the morning of the fourth day after arriving at Fertile Plains, Harry stretched and stepped out of his room, wondering if he should visit the nearby church, where there were supposedly two very old yew trees.

Harry rubbed his sleepy eyes and headed towards the restaurant.

As Harry passed through the living room, he seemed to notice someone lying on the sofa, and he quickly turned to look.

Belvina was seen lying on her side on the soft sofa, propping her head up with one hand. Her outfit of denim shorts and a plain white T-shirt was something Harry had never seen before.

"Hey, good morning, kid." Belvina waved lazily, holding a half-eaten apple in her other hand.

Since that long chat, Harry had never seen Belvina again. He had no idea where she had been these past few days, let alone that she had taken the time to return to London and, incidentally, kill someone.

After Carson Jeffrey's "suicide," Belvina took his body and left the dilapidated café.

Before leaving, Belvina checked and altered everyone's memories. They would not remember that Belvina had been there, but would only remember that Carson Jeffrey had attacked them to pocket the commission.

As for the innocent Muggle waitress who got caught up in it, she won't remember Belvina ever being there either; may Merlin protect her from harm.

The rest was left to the Ministry of Magic to handle. Whether to issue a warrant for the "escaped" Carson Jeffrey or send the wizards lying on the ground to Azkaban, those were matters for the Ministry of Magic to consider.

Belvina felt she had handled things very cleanly; the two men guarding Grimmauld Place hadn't even seen her.

The three people in the coffee shop had their memories altered, and Carson Jeffrey was also dead. The dead are the best at keeping secrets.

It shouldn't be a problem to keep it from the Ministry of Magic. If anyone insists on dwelling on this matter or tries to pin it on Belvina, then they're going against her, and she'll consider them the mastermind.

It was simple, crude, and even unreasonable. Belvina had no intention of reasoning with anyone. If she continued to reason and follow the rules, some people would take advantage of her.

In the tranquil farmhouse of Fertile Plain, Belvina casually tossed out the core of a cleanly bitten apple. The core traced an arc before landing steadily in the trash can in the living room.

Belvina, who had been lying on her side, sat up and continued, "Young man, have you had fun these past few days?"

"Professor, you're back," Harry said. "So, can we begin training for the wizarding duels?"

"Of course you can, but are you sure you want to get beaten up on an empty stomach?" Belvina said with a smile. "If you don't mind..."

"Then I don't mind."

Upon hearing this, Harry quickly ran into the dining room and sat down at the table to enjoy the food prepared by the house-elf. Even if he was going to get a severe beating later, he had to fill his stomach first.

Belvina stepped out of the house and stood on the green carpet-like grass. A light rain had fallen the night before, and the yard was filled with damp mist. Belvina squinted her eyes contentedly.

In this farmhouse on the fertile plain, time seemed to slow down, and the dappled light and shadows gently swayed, allowing Belvina's restless heart to regain its tranquility.

A dozen minutes later, Harry, having finished breakfast, walked into the yard and stood next to Belvina.

"Professor, shall we begin now?" Harry whispered, "I'm ready."

Belvina slowly opened her eyes, looking at the boy's youthful yet resolute face. Although she felt a little reluctant, she still decided to train Harry according to the previously agreed plan.

"Do you know about the Unforgivable Curse?" Belvina asked.

Harry, temporarily deprived of his external brain, shook his head blankly. He had never even heard of the Unforgivable Curse.

"The three unforgivable curses. As the names suggest, those who use these three dark magic spells on others are unforgivable," Belvina said. "They are the Imperius Curse, the Cruciatus Curse, and the Killing Curse."

Belvina paused for a moment, then continued, "The Imperius Curse is an abduction spell. When used on a person, it can cause them to lose their mind and become completely obedient to the caster. Even if the caster instructs them to commit suicide, the cursed person will do so. However, the Imperius Curse can be resisted, but it requires extremely strong willpower and mental strength."

Good heavens, Belvina's first lesson was the Unforgivable Curse. Harry was only in his third year when school started, but Belvina went straight to the high level, starting with content from the Azkaban Continuing Education School.

"The Cruciatus Curse, the spell is Cruciatus," Belvina said calmly. "If you hate someone very much, using the Cruciatus Curse on them is a satisfying revenge. No one can describe the pain that the Cruciatus Curse brings. There was once a very brave Auror couple who were driven insane by the Death Eaters using the Cruciatus Curse."

Harry frowned; this was far too cruel.

The Soul Curse can strip a person of their will and even command them to commit suicide, while the Cruciatus Curse is a torturous spell that can drive a person insane.

"Finally, there's the Killing Curse, the incantation is Avada Kedavra," Belvina continued calmly. "The Killing Curse is the most difficult of the Unforgivable Curses. It requires not only powerful magic as a foundation but also an intense killing intent as a driving force. There is never a survivor under the Killing Curse."

Belvina suddenly turned to the side, her slender fingers brushing aside the hair on Harry's forehead, and whispered, "You're the only exception. You're the only one who survived, Harry."

Upon hearing this, Harry raised his hand to touch the lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead, and he thought of the person who left this scar, Voldemort.

"Watch closely," Belvina reminded them, then took out her wand and pointed it at the wooden target in the distance.

Belvina flicked her wrist, and her acacia wand traced a lightning bolt from top to bottom. The dazzling green flash blinded Harry, and he heard a series of rapid sounds followed by a woman's scream.

"So this is how my parents died?"

Harry said in a low voice, breathing heavily, forcing himself to calm down and to stop thinking about his parents' deaths.

So this is how they died: they saw a blinding green light, heard the hurried footsteps of death, and then their lives vanished from their bodies.

It took Harry a while to calm down. The Killing Curse had had a huge impact on him, and the terrible memories came flooding back like a burst dam.

"Will it hurt?" Harry asked softly. "Will they feel pain?"

"I can't answer you, Harry," Belvina said. "I think it's probably because you can't feel the pain."

After a while, Harry's dejected mood finally improved, and he said, "I'm sorry, Professor, I just..." "No need to explain, Harry," Belvina said. "I'm not interested in your explanations. I only have one question for you."

Should we continue?

"Continue!" Harry said without hesitation and with firmness. "Professor, I want to protect my friends, to protect them from harm."

Belvina raised an eyebrow. What was with this chuunibyou (middle school syndrome) shonen manga vibe? Even though Britain is an island nation, this art style was a bit too distorted!
