Chapter 170 Doing Bad Things Requires Leaving a Name

With a low whistle, the lights in the carriage flickered a few times before coming back on.

The floor beneath my feet began to shake; the Hogwarts Express was moving again, and the rain outside was pouring down harder.

More and more students came out of their compartments and stood in the aisle of the carriage, whispering among themselves about what had just happened.

"What was that thing just now?" someone asked. "It felt awful, like I can never be happy again."

"That thing is a Dementor," someone replied. "Azkaban's Dementors."

Someone else asked, "What is Azkaban?"

"Azkaban is a wizarding prison, and Dementors are its guards."

The carriage was filled with the cacophony of students talking all at once; almost everyone was making noise, and the chaotic sounds were giving me a headache.

The students seemed to be trying to distract themselves by talking, even if it was just making meaningless syllables, rather than reliving the bone-chilling cold they had just experienced.

Soon, people approached Belvina and saw how she drove away the Dementors, and heard her angry curses.

This was the first time Belvina had ever lost her composure in front of her students.

Belvina took a deep breath and calmed herself down before saying calmly, "Go back to your respective cubicles, check if you and the people around you are injured, and check if any of your belongings are missing."

A student stepped forward, still shaken, and asked, "Professor Black, will the Dementors come back?"

Belvina shook her head. The Dementors probably wouldn't check the train anymore, and they should be close to Hogsmeade by now.

Worse still, there are even more Dementors around the school.

If Dementors succumb to temptation and break into the school, that would be truly disastrous; the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts would be in for an owl attack.

Belvina wished she could get off the train immediately, Apparate back to London, rush into the Ministry of Magic, and give Cornelius Fudge a good punch in the stomach!

Another student stepped forward, asking in a hesitant whisper, "Professor Black, are the Dementors after the fugitive Black?"

As the student asked the question, he scrutinized Belvina, seemingly worried that the school's professors were colluding with Azkaban fugitives.

Belvina never hid her background; a simple inquiry would reveal her relationship with Sirius Black.

"Otherwise what?" Belvina retorted. "What else could it be aimed at you?"

The student stammered and stepped back, not daring to speak again.

"Now go back to your respective compartments," Belvina said loudly. "The train should be arriving at Hogsmeade Station soon."

Under Belvina's watchful eye, the students returned to their cubicles, either to check if they had bumped into anything or to see if any of their belongings had been dropped or lost.

However, the students' discussion did not stop when they returned to their cubicles; they continued to talk about Azkaban, Dementors, and the escaped convict Sirius Black.

Belvina did not stop the students' discussion, although her name occasionally appeared in the conversation.

Belvina first went back to her compartment to tidy up, then left the compartment again and walked along the aisle towards the locomotive.

Before long, Belvina walked to the front of the train, where the train driver and the fat witch selling snacks were talking quietly, both looking terrified.

Belvina cut straight to the point, without any pleasantries. She asked, "Who just told you to stop for inspection?"

"The owl brought a letter from the Ministry of Magic, ordering me to stop immediately for inspection," the train driver said. "I had no idea that a Dementor would board; I thought it would be an Auror or a Striker."

As he spoke, the train driver pulled out the letter he had received from the Ministry of Magic.

Belvina took the letter and glanced at it. The contents were similar to what the train driver had said, but the signature on the letter made Belvina's eyelids twitch wildly.

The letter from the Ministry of Magic was signed "Your loyal Cornelius Fegidolores Umbridge, Special Investigations and Executions Office of the Ministry of Magic." Upon seeing the signature, Belvina nearly tore the letter to shreds.

When did the Ministry of Magic suddenly get a joint office? And where did that ugly and stupid woman Umbridge come from?

Just then, footsteps sounded behind her, and Belvina immediately turned around.

Perhaps it was Belvina's sharp gaze, or perhaps it was the way she gritted her teeth, but Remus Lupin, who was walking towards them, instinctively raised his arm in a defensive stance.

Their skill is so adept it's heartbreaking.

"See for yourself." Belvina tossed the letter to Lupin. "She's insane."

"I vaguely heard you were on the train while I was sleeping, and it turns out you really were," Lupin said. "Oh, I was in the same compartment as Harry."

As Lupin spoke, he quickly glanced through the letters.

He was still wearing that tattered robe, and he looked sickly, as if he might fall down at any moment and never get up again.

"They're really insane to let Dementors board the train for inspection. If no one on the train can stop them, the consequences will be dire—" Lupin didn't finish his sentence. He folded the letter again and handed it back to Belvina.

Belvina stuffed the Ministry of Magic letter into her pocket, showing no intention of returning it to the train driver.

The train driver didn't dare ask and simply pretended he hadn't seen anything.

"How utterly stupid! Doing bad things and then trying to leave your name, as if you're afraid no one will know," Belvina said sarcastically. "Oh, right..."

How is Harry? The Dementors must have had a huge impact on him.

"He fainted," Lupin sighed. "Before he passed out, he drew his wand, but only a few wisps of unformed silvery-white gas appeared. Did you teach him that, or did Dumbledore?"

Belvina crossed her arms and said, "I didn't have time to teach him, I just told him the spell. To the Dementors, Harry is just a meal laid out before them."

"Yes," Lupin echoed, then recounted what had happened in his carriage.

When the Dementors discover Harry and realize the misfortune lurking in his mind, their attention becomes focused on him.

In the compartment where Lupin and Harry were sitting, the Dementors weren't conducting a routine check; they were attacking Harry, actively targeting Hogwarts students.

About ten minutes later, the steam locomotive slowed down again and came to a slow stop at the cold, dark Hogsmeade Station.

Belvina and Lupin stepped off the train together. The small platform was bitterly cold, and a torrential downpour seemed to foreshadow a terrible new school year due to the Ministry of Magic's idiotic actions.

"First-year students, this way!" Hagrid's familiar booming voice rang out on the platform, his massive figure beckoning the panicked first-year students to come over.

"Hagrid is still the same as before." Lupin sighed softly, feeling a deep longing for everything about Hogwarts.

Belvina raised her wand like an umbrella, instantly shielding herself from the biting autumn rain. She said, "There are still differences. You'll see at the dinner party."

The two did not linger on the cold, dark platform. They quickly merged into the crowd and were pushed by the throng to a side path on the other side of the platform.

On the rough, muddy path, Thestrals stood between the shafts waiting for the students to arrive. After Belvina and Lupin climbed into one of the carriages, the carriage immediately began to bump and sway as it moved forward.

Belvina raised her hand, placing the knuckle of her right index finger under her nose to slightly block out the pervasive, faint musty smell in the carriage.

"Why don't you teach Harry the Patronus Charm?" Belvina suggested. "His situation makes him desperately in need of the Patronus Charm's protection, more than anyone else."

Lu Ping paused for a moment, then said, "Why did you suddenly think of me? You know my situation."

On the night of the full moon, Remus Lupin transforms into a very dangerous werewolf, and around the time of the full moon, Lupin's body becomes exceptionally weak, as if he were seriously ill.

"Don't you want to get closer to Harry?" Belvina said. "He's the Potters' son, your best friend's son."

Lupin thought for a moment and said, "Of course I want to be close to Harry, and teaching him the Patronus Charm to protect himself is no problem. The problem is, what about you?"

"I have other things to do." Belvina looked out the window as the Thestral carriage passed through two imposing wrought-iron gates.

Two sinister Dementors, each wearing a hood, stood guard at the entrance to Hogwarts, and a chill colder than the autumn rain seeped into the carriage.

Belvina closed her eyes, and the carriage shook and swayed even more violently.

She continued, "I've been spending almost half a month with that brat, please leave me alone, don't make things difficult for a Slytherin like me."

Lupin smiled gently; he didn't believe Belvina's excuses.

"There's something else," Belvina opened her eyes. "This is something you and I know, and we can't mention it to a third person."

Lupin nodded. Belvina's seriousness was probably related to Sirius.

"That bastard Sirius," Belvina whispered, "isn't he an Animagus?"

Upon hearing this, Remus Lupin looked at Belvina with great surprise. How did she know about this?

"Judging from your reaction, I think I guessed right," Belvina said. "You guys are really something else."

As soon as he finished speaking, the carriage fell silent, and the Thestral accelerated up the long, muddy uphill road.

The corner tower and the tower are getting closer and closer.

Finally, the carriage came to a shaky stop, and Remus Lupin was the first to climb out.

With his tattered robe and sickly appearance, Lu Ping instantly attracted the attention of many students; he was probably the most poorly dressed person in the school.

"That man is probably a beggar!" A sarcastic voice rang out in front of the castle gate.

The loud, shrill laughter instantly drew more attention. Some people looked at Lupin with curiosity, while others joined in mocking his shabby appearance.

Remus Lupin remained unperturbed by the students' rude behavior, as if he hadn't heard a thing.

At this moment, Belvina stepped out of the carriage, and the laughter from the long steps subsided considerably.

On the platform at the end of the stairs, Draco Malfoy saw the impoverished Lupin, and also Belvina standing beside Lupin.

"Shut up! Parkinson's!" Malfoy growled. "Let's go."

Crabbe and Goyle followed Malfoy into the castle, the two humanoid baboons scratching their heads in confusion, wondering what Malfoy was up to now.

Pansy Parkinson, who looks like a poodle, pouted and followed silently behind.
