Chapter 376 End and Beginning
The giant snake Nagini coiled its body, arched its neck, flicked its tongue, and hissed wildly.
With the friction of its scales and the contraction of its muscles, Nagini's enormous, flat snake head shot out, its gaping maw aimed straight at the back of Belvina's neck.
Another clear cry rang out, and bright, warm firelight shone behind Belvina. Phoenix Fox suddenly appeared and began to fight the giant snake Nagini.
Phoenix Fox's weapons are its gleaming golden claws and sharp beak, which it uses to scratch here and peck there.
The giant serpent Nagini shook its flat head wildly, its thick, powerful tail sweeping here and lashing there.
The phoenix and the giant snake rose and fell, their cries and hisses alternating, and for a time neither could gain the upper hand.
Just then, Dumbledore arrived. He waved his wand lightly, and the spell he unleashed was so powerful that even just passing by sent shivers down Belvina's spine.
Voldemort suddenly swung his left hand, and a black, ominous cloud of mist appeared out of thin air.
The black mist swirled and flowed, and Dumbledore's spell was instantly swallowed and absorbed by the flowing black mist, like a mud ox sinking into the sea.
Voldemort waved his left hand again, and the black mist, along with Dumbledore's spell, merged into the beam of light connecting the two wands, pushing the shimmering orb toward Belvina.
"Let go!" Dumbledore shouted.
The principal shouted as he strode forward and waved his wand once more.
Belvina stopped trying to maintain the connection between the two wands and, while disconnecting them, slipped aside.
At the same time, another kite-shaped shield appeared, its silver-white surface still engraved with the Black family crest.
The green light mixed with black mist did not pierce Belvina, nor did it hit the kite-shaped shield. Phoenix Fox suddenly abandoned Nagini, opened its sharp beak and swallowed the green light and black mist together.
Phoenix Fox was engulfed in flames, landed on the ground, and shriveled up in a small, ugly ball.
Belvina raised her wand, and a flash of red light forced Nagini, who was pursuing her, back.
Then she stepped forward, picked up the crumpled Fox, and put it in the pocket of her robe.
Meanwhile, the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort seemed to have reached a conclusion, with four bright white lights acting like four ropes, firmly binding Voldemort to the spot.
"Albus Dumbledore." Voldemort narrowed his crimson eyes. "Are you trying to kill me?"
Dumbledore.
"Take your life alone will not satisfy me, Tom," said Dumbledore.
"Still the same old stinking argument, Dumbledore," Voldemort said with disgust. "Nothing is more terrible than death."
As he spoke, the four beams of white light binding Voldemort suddenly broke.
"You're very wrong, Tom," Dumbledore said as he walked forward.
Dumbledore seemed completely unafraid of Voldemort, striding forward and closing in step by step.
Voldemort did not make a move, seemingly very wary of Dumbledore. Even as Dumbledore walked over unhindered, he still dared not attack easily.
"Time, time will tell who is right and who is wrong, Dumbledore," Voldemort said. "We will meet again, perhaps at the Ministry of Magic, perhaps at Hogwarts, we will meet again."
Voldemort's body suddenly seemed to become ethereal, appearing as if it were a mirage.
Belvina was already a formidable opponent, and with Albus Dumbledore added to the mix, Voldemort decided to leave; otherwise, it would be too late.
Soon, Voldemort disappeared, along with the giant snake named Nagini.
Even someone as powerful and great as Albus Dumbledore couldn't stop Voldemort from leaving.
Dumbledore stared at the spot where Voldemort had disappeared, his mind racing with a mix of emotions. He knew that war was about to begin, or rather, that this war had never ended.
After a while, Dumbledore suddenly realized that Belvina was not making a sound, which was very unusual for her.
Dumbledore turned around and saw Belvina lying sprawled on the still-warm ground, her appearance completely ruined.
"Sorry I'm late," Dumbledore said as he approached.
"Of course you're late. If you had come any later, you could have been collecting my corpse."
"I'm sorry." Dumbledore leaned down and sat next to Belvina. "I encountered..."
"Don't tell me you've lost your way in life. You're over a hundred years old, my dear professor."
Dumbledore didn't say anything more.
At this moment, words are pale and powerless; a young life almost perished.
Belvina, who had been lying on the ground panting, struggled to sit up with the help of her arms.
Once she was certain that Voldemort had left, Belvina's energy and spirit were completely depleted, as if she had just finished running a marathon with a heavy load, reaching her physical and mental limits.
Now, exhausted both physically and mentally, Miss Blake just wanted to find a place to collapse, to think about nothing and do nothing.
But that's impossible; Voldemort is back, and the war is about to begin.
Besides, someone needs to clean up the mess left by Young Hangleton, and Hogwarts also has Barty Crouch Jr. waiting for him.
Oh, and the Ministry of Magic and Cornelius Fudge.
The corrupt and decadent Ministry of Magic, and the greedy Cornelius Fudge, have far too many things to deal with.
"Professor, what happened to you?" Belvina asked. She knew how powerful Dumbledore was, and that the Gaunt mansion must be something special to be able to hold him back.
"Hordeals," Dumbledore said softly, "and there are layers of protection protecting them."
"A Horcrux?" Belvina said. "The reason you arrived so slowly is because you found a Horcrux?"
Dumbledore shook his head and said, "I didn't see the Horcrux; I was trapped there by the magic protecting it."
"And now?" Belvina pressed, "Back to the Gauntlet mansion, to find the Horcruxes?"
Dumbledore shook his head again and said, "Voldemort may still be lurking nearby, and may even go to the old house to check the Horcruxes. I don't want to alert him prematurely."
Without alerting Voldemort, secretly search for the Horcruxes and destroy them one by one.
Once Voldemort learns that Dumbledore has discovered the secret of his "immortality," he will surely transfer the Horcruxes away.
To prevent this disastrous situation from occurring, Dumbledore decided to remain still and wait until the situation in Young Hangleton stabilized before returning to Gaunt's old house to search for the Horcruxes.
"How are you now? Can you get back to Hogwarts by yourself?" Dumbledore asked. He could tell that Belvina wasn't injured; her half-dead state was due to exhaustion.
"I'm afraid that won't work," Belvina said. "If I were to forcibly Apparate back to Hogwarts, my name would most likely appear in tomorrow's Daily Prophet."
Belvina was so tired; she felt completely drained and had no energy left.
Even if Snape appeared before her right now, repeatedly darting around in her minefield, Belvina could only laugh it off, because she was truly terrified.
"I'll take you back to school first. I'll handle things here in Little Hangleton," Dumbledore said. "Many villagers saw the fire in the cemetery."
Anyone who isn't blind or deaf can tell that something is wrong in Little Hangleton.
First, the long-abandoned Riddle House was engulfed in flames, and then the cemetery near the chapel was also engulfed in flames. How could the people of Little Hangleton not know that something had happened?
“Oh, Professor, Barty Crouch’s body is buried in the yard on the hill,” Belvina said. “And Bertha Jorkins,” she sighed, “Jorkins’ body should have been consumed by Fiendfire.”
"I understand. I'll explain the details about them when I get back." Dumbledore nodded. "I'll take you back first."
As he spoke, Dumbledore began rummaging through his pockets and soon pulled out a box of candy.
Dumbledore took all the toffee out of the box and carefully placed the empty box on the ground.
"Mentos," Dumbledore said softly, raising his wand.
The empty box on the ground trembled for a while, emitting a strange blue light, and then gradually came to rest.
Seeing this, Belvina raised her hand to cover the empty candy box that had turned into a door key, and the scorched cemetery of Little Hangleton vanished instantly.
